Understanding Monitoring Spirits
Monitoring spirits are demonic powers strategically assigned by the enemy to observe, track, and frustrate the lives of people. These spirits are not passive; their mission is to steal, kill, and destroy destinies, as John 10:10 reminds us: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” They often manifest through human agents, sometimes referred to as “monitoring agents,” who may be used knowingly or unknowingly by the enemy. These agents can be neighbours, work colleagues, boyfriends, girlfriends, wives, husbands, friends, or even family members who suddenly show unhealthy interest in your life, progress, or plans. In other cases, monitoring spirits operate through animals, strange dreams, or objects. Evil altars and occult practices are often their base of operation, using satanic instruments such as mirrors, crystal balls, bowls of water, tealeaves or charms to spy on, manipulate, and delay destinies.

The enemy may not always use physical tools. Many times, they simply work through people close to you, those individuals who collect information about your life under the guise of casual conversation, then use it to hinder or curse your progress. This aligns with the warning in Micah 7:6: “A man’s enemies are the men of his own house.” Some may not even realise they are being used by demonic forces to gather intelligence against your spiritual life, your finances, your marriage, your children, or your calling. Ask yourself about those people who always want to know what you are up to. Those people who always watch your stories, social media, always watching and never saying anything. Monitoring spirits specialise in causing delays, stagnation, and disappointment. They are responsible for monitoring breakthroughs to ensure they do not manifest, frustrating prayers, and diverting blessings meant for God’s children. They never celebrate your progress, instead, they exist to hinder and oppose it. Psalm 37:32 declares: “The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.”
Monitoring spirits also operate through dreams. For example, when someone constantly sees themselves being watched, pursued, running, or observed in their sleep, it can be a sign of spiritual surveillance. Evil animals, such as birds, cats, or insects appearing repeatedly in or around your home, can also represent demonic monitoring in the spirit realm. This is why 1 Peter 5:8 warns us: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Ask yourself if you have noticed strange things happening around you. Glory be Jesus because the good news is that monitoring spirits are not stronger than the power of God. No matter how much they try to frustrate your destiny, the Lord has promised victory. Isaiah 54:17 declares: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.” Through the authority in the name of Jesus Christ, every monitoring power can be silenced, and their assignments destroyed. To overcome monitoring spirits, believers must remain prayerful, spiritually alert, and covered under the blood of Jesus. Spiritual warfare is a very important part of a christian's life.

Seven Powerful Ways Christians Can Overcome Monitoring Spirits
1. Live a Holy and Obedient Life
Holiness is a shield. When you live in obedience to God’s Word, the enemy loses legal ground to operate. Remember he is the accuser of the bethren. Sin opens doors to monitoring spirits, but purity and obedience close them.James 4 verse 7 says, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.A life that pleases God is a fortress. When you walk in righteousness, you stand under divine covering and no evil eye can prevail.
2. Pray Without Ceasing
Prayer is a spiritual firewall. It releases the fire of God to consume every power watching your life. Prayer exposes hidden enemies and shuts down their communication.Luke 18 verse 1 says, Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.A consistent prayer life surrounds you with a hedge of fire that no monitoring spirit can cross.
3. Use the Word of God Daily
The Word of God is both light and a weapon. Ephesians 6 verse 17 calls it the sword of the Spirit. When you speak scripture aloud, you release divine power into your environment.Psalm 119 verse 105 says, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.Daily declarations of Psalm 91, Isaiah 54 verse 17 and other protective scriptures create a spiritual fortress that monitoring spirits cannot breach.
4. Apply the Blood of Jesus
The blood of Jesus is one of the most powerful spiritual weapons against all demonic operations. Revelation 12 verse 11 says, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.Cover your home, family, finances, plans and health with the blood of Jesus. Every time you plead the blood, you are enforcing the victory of the cross and creating a divine barrier against spiritual surveillance.
5. Walk in Faith and Worship
Faith activates the power of God on your behalf. Hebrews 11 verse 6 says, But without faith it is impossible to please Him.Trusting God silences the enemy and draws His power into your situation. Combine your faith with worship. When Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns in prison, their chains broke and the foundations of the prison shook (Acts 16 verses 25 to 26). Worship shifts the atmosphere and fills it with God’s presence, making it impossible for monitoring spirits to operate.
6.Discernment
Discernment allows you to identify the enemy’s tactics and avoid traps before they take effect. 1 Corinthians 2 verse 14 says, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.By cultivating spiritual sensitivity through prayer, fasting, and meditating on God’s Word, you can recognise when monitoring spirits are trying to manipulate your life. Discernment helps you distinguish between true friends and those unknowingly used as instruments of the enemy. Proverbs 3 verse 21 reminds us, My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion.Walking in discernment equips you to make decisions under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, avoid ambushes, and respond in faith rather than fear.
7.Exercise Your Authority in Christ
This is one of the most important steps. Jesus has already given believers authority over all the power of the enemy. Luke 10 verse 19 says, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.You must actively use that authority. Speak directly to the situation. Command every monitoring spirit to scatter in the name of Jesus. Cancel every evil plan and declare your freedom. Authority is not passive. It is something you exercise by speaking the Word of God with boldness, rejecting fear and enforcing your victory through Christ.

Testimony: How God Delivered Me From Monitoring Spirits
My name is Grace (name has been changed to protect the wop community member). For several years my life was full of unexplained struggles. Every time I was close to a promotion at work or an important breakthrough in my business something would suddenly go wrong. Projects that had been approved would be cancelled. People who had promised to support me would change their minds at the last moment. Even friendships began to feel strange, as though people were only around me to extract information.I started noticing patterns. Whenever I shared a plan or a dream with certain individuals, within a short time obstacles would appear. I also began to experience troubling dreams. In some dreams I would see someone watching me from behind a tree, or peeping through a window. Other times I would see animals, like cats or birds, especially owls and crows, staring at me intently. I would wake up feeling drained, sweaty and unsettled. I felt as though there was an unseen force constantly observing and sabotaging my life. Nothing was ever going write with me.
One day at church during a prayer meeting, the pastor taught about monitoring spirits. He explained that these are demonic powers assigned by the enemy to watch over people’s lives and frustrate their progress. When he read Psalm 37 verse 32, The wicked watcheth the righteous and seeketh to slay him, my heart trembled because it described exactly what I had been experiencing. He also shared Isaiah 54 verse 17, No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and it gave me hope. I decided to fast for three days and immerse myself in prayer. Every night I would rise at midnight and pray over my life, my family and my plans. I prayed for God to expose every hidden enemy and to destroy every satanic instrument used against me. During one of those nights I felt a release in my spirit. The dreams of being watched stopped, all because of spiritual warfare. The constant setbacks began to disappear. Six months after my fast, I received a job promotion that had been delayed for more than two years. My business also began to grow steadily and doors of favour opened in unexpected places. Today I testify that God has delivered me from monitoring spirits. Psalm 91 verse 11 says, For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. I now feel a sense of peace and protection around me. Those who once spied on my life can no longer find access. God has lifted me above their reach. My life has become a testimony of what the power of prayer can do and the faithfulness of God. God bless you.
In conclusion, monitoring spirits are real, but they are not more powerful than the Spirit of
God within you. As long as you stand firm in Christ, cover yourself in prayer, and walk in obedience, every demonic power set against you will be destroyed. Remember the assurance of Psalm 121:7–8: “The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Also 1 John 4 verse 4, Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. You are not helpless. You are empowered to live in victory through Jesus Christ.
