Prayer is a time to pour out your heart to God.

Updated: Jun 16, 2019

Life can throw so many different challenges and issues our way, and at times you wonder if the things that you are going through are even real or it’s a movie. Sometimes you go to bed hoping when you wake up in the morning every issue you have had would have disappeared right ? Unfortunately life is not like the movies and you have to get up and sort out previous issues and concerns as well as face the new day which will bring it’s own challenges. However, Glory Be to God who gives us the strength to do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13

Boy does Life brings us different situations,at times all at the same time and it’s so overwhelming and you stop and ask WHY?The car stops working, you get laid off at work, you can’t pay your rent or mortgage, your business is not picking up,your spouse wants to break up, your kids are acting up in school, church members have been gossiping about you, you feel sick all the time, you lose a loved one, family is backstabbing you, sounds familiar? I think you can relate to some of these or at least you know someone who has been through something similar. Many a times we go through so many different things in our lives and we find that there is nobody there to listen. We call our trusted friends and family and yet they are no where to be found. You have been let down by so many people you just know that if you tell someone what you are going through you will be the talk of the town, your life is on social media platforms and your private chats have been screenshot and passed around the Internet. There is nobody who will understand you without judging you, and there is nobody there to help you. Life can be so cruel at times and You will find that you feel like you don’t have anybody to talk to, to tell your insecurities ,your fears, your failures, doubts , anxieties, worries, burdens and so much more.

That was looking at life from one side, let’s flip the coin. You have great ideas, you have a vision, great desires, plans for your life, community, town, country, you want to change the world, help transform lives , be a positive help to someone and again you don’t have that person you can talk to and trust 100%. You will tell someone your idea and they will steal it, or they will discourage you, they will make you feel worthless so that they don’t see you moving to the next level. ( Trust me there are people like that). This is when you will come to the revelation in Jeremiah 17:5-7

Thus says the Lord:

5.“Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his [a]strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. 6.For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.

7.Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.”

The only person you can rely on and trust completely with your life is God. He says that “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 and in Jeremiah 29 : 11 the bible says ”For I know the plans that I have for you, plans of good and not evil to give you an expected end.”That means God will never allow a situation to occur without Him being there to help you out of every situation and give you divine victory. Trust God no matter how the situation looks.Look at Job, In spite of all of Job's sufferings, Job still trusted God. The Word of God says in Job 13:15, NKJV. "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him."

God will equip us with the tools to deal with the burden, no matter how heavy it may be

1 Corinthians 10:13 .No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.We don't have to carry our burdens alone, no matter how personal, self-inflicted, big or small they might be. Even when we can't look to a friend or relative to share the burden, take it to the Lord in prayer.

Prayer is a time to go and seek the face of God and pour out your heart to him. Psalm 62:8

Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him.

At that time where you know that you are at His feet, You feel His presence, you are at the throne of Mercy and Grace and this is the place you know that all your healing will begin to happen in every area of your life. In God's presence is where you will find security and meet a loving Father and pour out your heart ,soul and issues to Him without facing any judgement or gossip. The place of liberty where you know you will be set free in the name pf Jesus Christ. At times you just don’t know what to say, but you just grant , cry , scream, burst out etccc and that absolutely fine because sometimes that’s what you need to get your heart healed. Remember when Hannah was looking for a child, she had been going to temple every year with the same prayer point. In that year she went with a different prayer strategy that the priest Eli thought she was drunk. 1 Samuel 1:15

But Hannah replied, "No, my lord, I am a woman oppressed in spirit; I have not drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the LORD. Wooooow!!! Hannah went to pour her heart and soul to God.Not to the priest, nor to her friends and family who were mocking her for being barren. She went directly to God, the giver of every blessing. Glory be to a wonderful God who heard her cry and answered her and blessed her with a prophet for a son.

At times you are so heart broken that you don’t even know what to say and we just grant or groan in the spirit and that's when the Precious Holy Spirit will make intercession for you.

Romans 8:26-27 New Living Translation (NLT)

26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers[a] in harmony with God’s own will.Sometimes it’s just a simple sentence like Lord I need you ,Lord take this burden of me or Lord heal my broken heart. That’s all it takes. It’s not about how long the Prayer is , it’s about the connection you have with your maker. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.James 5:16.
